"Hey! You're that painting lady!"
I heard this the other day as I was shopping for groceries. A little one recognized me from one of my vendor events, pointed at me and shouted. (Normally, I know many people would scold their child if they pointed and shouted in a full grocery store, but neither I nor the parent minded.)
When I was in the Ottawa Region, I was used to people stopping me and saying, "hey, you're that painting lady."
Since I moved to Guelph at the end of August, I haven't heard that much. The other day was the first I'd heard it since myself and my family moved. I hadn't realized how much I'd missed that.
Yes. I am that painting lady. I'm that lady that draws. I'm that lady who is learning to sculpt. I'm that lady who loves teaching my painting classes and introducing someone to the art world (or encouraging those who have started to find their way).
My name is Rae Wright, and I am that painting lady!
Paint on, my friends.
